


Must have effective Verbal and written communication skills and be able to interact effectively with a diverse workforce Must have strong mechanical aptitude, skilled in the use of basic mechanical tools, and the ability to operate equipment including inserters, collators, labelers, printers, stackers and tyers Must have a high school diploma or acceptable equivalencyĪ minimum of 3-4 years previous experience as a Packager in a newspaper production environment is required To complete other tasks as assigned by management To accurately complete all shift, quality, press delivery and production related reports as required

To maintain effective and open communication with operations managers and co-workers on any matters that may impact the production and/or distribution of the product, and to report to the operations managers other matters that require his/her attention To execute training and coaching for inserter/collator/press delivery packaging team members in all facets of inserting/collating/press delivery operation including but not limited to: hopper feeding, backline operation, equipment repair as required, and labeling To be familiar with and adhere to department policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards of performance, attendance policy, safety policy, overtime policy, substance abuse policy, housekeeping, forklift operation, etc To inspect the work area daily and throughout shift, ensuring a clean and organized work environment Follow policies, programs and procedures outlined by environmental safety manager.

To establish and promote a safe and healthy work environment for the department. To conduct performance appraisals and performance profiles for inserter/collator/press delivery packaging team members To provide professional leadership and direction to inserter/collator/press delivery packaging team members while maintaining a productive atmosphere and high morale. To inform operations managers of any error or accident that will impact the integrity of the products being produced To inspect the contents of inserted/collated/off press packages to ensure established quality standards for all products are being met. To communicate and follow up with maintenance shops on machinery in need of service to ensure completion of all requested work To perform preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on a daily basis or when needed/required on inserter/collator and related equipment in a manner to ensure the safe and efficient operation of this equipment. To ensure efficient production and quality products are produced with correct sections and freestanding inserts To set-up automatic equipment including inserter/collator, tyers, stackers, hopper loaders, bundlers, printers, polywrapper, palletizer and other support equipment to ensure correct operation.
